Grade 1 Math: Practicing Doubles

This week in math, the grade 1 students have been practicing their doubles addition facts: 1+1, 2+2, etc. These facts are the foundation of many addition strategies students will learn in years to come and students will be working towards memorizing them this year. Please also note that part of our curriculum is that students are able to do mental math up to 9+9 by June in preparation for grade 2.

Below is a game that we have been playing as a fun way to practice these facts. If you are looking for a way to support your child's learning of addition skills from now until the end of June, this game is an easy one to prep and play!

If you need a copy of the game and/or materials sent home with your child, please let me know.

Thanks for your support at home!
